Doing my english essay.... -_-

Since my dad is coming tomorrow (yay!!!!!!!! party and party and party!!!!!! wooohoooo!!!!!!) I had to do the English essay today... -_-
I came home quite late since I had choir after school today and had to take the bus home.
I sat at the computer and opened a blank Word document. I started writing some crap I could think of at first, but failed every time. This is how it turned out:

I went on Facebook since I didn't have the instructions paper and asked Yasmin for it. I tried to start writing again.
Soon, Yasmin sent me the paper. I was hoping it would help me, but this is what I got (with some corrections in red):
So I decided to do the essay another day.... -_-

Sweet Revenge!
Yasmin asked me to send her 'Problem Solving'!

The past, the present and the future

This is how I picture time

The dark silhouette is standing in front of a door that could also be a picture frame. The holes in the door each represent a different thing.
The top one represents the mind. The light coming out of the hole is shining at the box that represents the future. It means that our mind is thinking about the future. The gift is wrapped nicely, but a dark liquid is coming out of it. It symbolises that no one knows what the future will bring.
The hole bellow it symbolises the eyes. The light is shining at the forest that represents the present. It means that with our eyes we see the present. The strangely shaped trees of the forest represent how wonderful the present is. We often don't pay attention to that and run quickly through it. The past flows into the past and the future.
The bottom hole is the heart. It symbolises that the past (the teddy bear) is in our heart. The butterflies in the light represent that in our minds we make it look and sound better than it actually was. The chain at the bottom means that we can not live in the past again, but the footstep in front of it symbolises that we really want to.

It was a long time ago

So all this talk of 'stereotypes' in English class makes me think if this one story that happened on Halloween. I realized I haven't talked about it before so I am going to, now.
This year, for Halloween, me and my friends went trick-or-treating. None of us cared about what it actually meant. We just wanted the candy.
The people who we came across were very interesting. Most of them didn't know what trick-or-treating was. Only the two indian families we saw knew the real meaning of it.
Some people say that stereotyping different nationalities is racist and mean. I would agree with it at some point, but what we saw that night was an exception.
I remember that at one point we came across a floor that smelled like rice and fish. The smell was coming from an apartment with an Asian name on it. As the door opened, we could smell the rice an the Chinese food even more. And, of course, the people who inhabited the apartment were also very stereotypical. Their shoes were outside the door and inside the house they were wearing white socks. Sorry, but that is so Asian....
Next, we came across an Arab family. The door was opened by a scary looking man in a long.... How do you call that?
The Russian family was not there, but their dog was. As soon as we rang the door bell, the dog jumped on the door and started barking like a wild animal.
The Turkish men was listening to this annoying Turkish music.
But that wasn't it!
The funniest and the most stereotypical ones were, of course, the indians! An old woman in a green sari, a nose piercing and a red dot on her forehead, opened the door. Their apartment smelled of spices and this indian perfume thing that gives me a headache. I think the women was confused, so she called her husband. The men had a beer belly and a tank top on. He was very smelly and sweaty. I think he had a mustache too, but I do not remember. After a while the whole family was standing in front of us and we were just like 'Candy...?'
We saw many other stereotypical families that night, but I do not remember all of them.
That was a very interesting experience for all of us... Looking back at it is very funny.

***

Morning.

               The pink sky.

The dark silhouettes of tall trees trembling at the horizon.

The soft gentle wind kissing your cheek.

The cold ground under your bare feet is still wet. As the lazy rays of sunshine touch the big drops of rain water on the leaves of a nearby tree, they reflect and shine into your eyes.

The sleepy sun is slowly coming out of the soft pillow-like clouds.

The early birds are singing.

The old, dirty fence with a broken gate.

The grass. So long it tickles your knees.

The pile of dead brown leaves under the tree’s white trunk.

The smell of fire.

You follow the path and open the squeaking gate. As you carry on you find yourself on a wide deserted road. The earth is soft and moist. The rocks on the ground tear up your skin, but you feel no pain. Instead, you carry on walking.

The road is endless.

The grass along it is still. The trees in the distance are motionless. The birds are silent. From far away you can hear a sound. It’s a horse.

You shiver and hold on to your robe that is made out of hard fabric. Suddenly, the wind becomes stronger. It becomes so strong, you think it’s going to lift you up, so you stop walking. Your long hair hits your face and neck. The dust is blowing into your eyes. For a moment you think you’re blind.

You close your eyes and crouch down.

As you open them everything is gone.

Today is a special day...

Today was a very special day (guess why......) so Yaz and I tried to avoid getting in trouble as much as possible.
In French class we listened to this strange old French song about someone's dad.... Franny got sick and looked like she was on drugs.... She wasted all my tissues.....
In English class we got our 'To kill a Mockingbird' portfolios back. I was hoping for a good grade since I was very proud of my work. I spent ages doing it. Especially the key facts.
I got a 69% (that's a C or a C+. I'm not sure...) :(
After English we had computers. Yasmin and I were late and Mrs Lemale gave us an evil stare... (It looked evil to me...)
We went to watch the gymnastics competition. The previous years we would always sneak out and wander around the school, singing and imitating people.... This year we tried, but failed... Franny and Carolina didn't go with us, so it was just Sonyasmin. Thinking about all the possible ways we could get back to level 1 of concern, we walked to the Mont Blanc building.
Well, we got caught...
Nothing really happened after the gymnastics Gala. Yasmin and I stayed inside, trying not to look suspicious. We still got told off for talking... (Everyone was so silent!)
Maths was the worst. Miss Stierly is going to be there for about a month, so we have Mr Gilbert instead. I'm still quite unsure of the things we're doing. No matter how much I listen to our teacher, I can not keep all the information in my head....

I think I'm going to write something now... See you soon!

School was actually fun! (I don't sound like myself.....)

Yay! Vacation is finally over! I would never say that, but my 'Ski week' was horrible. Every day I would wake up at (or past) midday, I would have my breakfast/lunch and I would spend the whole day playing minecraft, watching the dumbest YouTube videos and skyping my cousin.... My mum would always tell me to go outside, but I would refuse. She made me go shopping with her twice. The first time it was very cold and it was snowing. The second time we, according to my mum, were 'just going to go to the city centre, come back and buy some food', but our 'little walk' took us three hours. By the time we got home, it was past 6, so all the food shops were closed...
On Sunday, I went to Lausanne to watch ballet. I thought  Mum never told me about that, but she said that she got the tickets in December and would tell me quite often. For me, it was a surprise.
I didn't get mad at first. I love ballet! I even started looking forward to that trip, but it ended up being something totally unexpected.
Mum found this website with all the information about what we were going to see. It was divided into three parts and none of it was going to be classical ballet. From the very start I knew that I wasn't going to enjoy it since modern ballet is just like rhythmic dancing. It has no sense or story and to me it is just horrible.
But that wasn't it!
The third section of the ballet was a premier, so there was nothing about it on the website that my mum has shown me.
The second section was Ravel's Bollero. 'Well,' I thought, 'at least I can just listen to the music.' There was going to be a Russian ballerina and I guess that's why my mum wanted to see. There was also a video of it. As I watched it I just thought to myself 'What. The. Hell.' Find it and watch it..... Seriously.......
The first one was going to be..... Indian...... Yes..... Indian...... The story of it is about the Hindu gods and it was going to be to traditional indian music.......
The car trip didn't take us that long, although we arrived quite early.
I could NOT BEAR the first part..... The music was SERIOUSLY getting on my nerves..... There were strange costumes and weird dancing. It started off with men in white robes walking around the stage doing the lotus flower with their hands. They sat down in a meditating position with their hands to their chest. It made me think of one pound fish where they want it to look indian, but failing..... My ears and head were about to expload...... That music was the most annoying thing EVER!!! They would also sing!!! Why do all indians have this very annoying vibrato in their voice?! Ugh!!!
The second one didn't have any music at all. It sounded like some guy didn't know how to play electric guitar, so it sounded like a cat was being tortured. One women was supposed to be representing the main character from Breakfast at Tiffany's, but failing. It was HORRIBLE!!!
I closed my eyes halfway through the third part. I leaned on my mum's shoulder and was very close to falling asleep. The music made me happy.
So that's why I was happy to be back at school!
The first two periods of sports were.... Well..... Nothing special about them. We played badminton, ping pong ( I failed) and  volleyball.
How happy I was to be back in English class *coughNOTcough*. Yasmin was making faces at me and scratching herself with scissors (?). But now we made a bet about it. In return I have to sit next to her until May. Yes, May..... I don't know how we're going to do this, since Mrs Manchala always tells us to go to our normal seats.....
(In the second period of English we had to find the meanings of certain words and explain how they're related to the book we're reading. One of them was stereotype. I can't get over that time we went trick or treating.....)
After English, we had history and after history, it was lunch. I was telling my friends about that horrible experience at the theatre...
Nothing interesting happened after, but, overall, it was very fun.

Vacation!

Friday was the last day before Ski week. After Csl, Music and other boring school subjects, Yasmin and I stayed after school.
The funny thing about our school is that after 10 or so minutes after the last bell, the place becomes deserted. It feels like you're in an abandoned town. It's dead silent and not a single person is outside.
After going to the cafe Yaz and I decided to go to the top of the Grenier.
The Grenier is quite a small building. The cafe is located at the first floor. There's also a sports shop where you can buy sports clothes, hats, swimming suits, etc. Next to the cafe there's an office. It used to be the discipline office before. I don't know which one it is now.
If you go upstairs you'll find yourself in a small room with round tables and chairs. There's also a microwave. The wall to your left is painted and decorated with characters from video games (for example Omnom from cut the rope). To the opposite of the door there's a swirly staircase. On the top of it there's a big lock that wouldn't let anyone inside. If you look up you will be able to see the roof and a part of the attic floor.
To the right of the staircase and next to the microwave, there's a door that leads to the next room. It is quite small, but it has many chairs and tables inside. Behind the door at the corner of the room, there are stairs to the attic. In the attic there's quite a big mess. The door that leads to the other half of the attic, that you can see from the first room, is locked.
The third room is bigger than the first one, but it is still small. There are armchairs and a tv. There are also tables and chairs. The walls are decorated with hand prints and graffiti-like letters.
The room next to that one is the play room.
At the top of the Grenier Yasmin and I had our salad. We wanted to go to the attic, but there was someone in there. When we were done, we went outside, sat on the bench in front of reception, took Pon pon (my iPad) out and started playing the Indian nipple song. Zoum! Sasha, a guy from my after school bus, came to join us. We talked about the most random stuff ever. Soon, it was time to go.
Simply Theatre was quite fun. At break time Yaz and I sat in the Green room and imitated Dill from 'To kill a Mockingbird'. It made us laugh so much that we were very sick afterwards.
In dance class we discussed our teachers and at some point we came to the topic of Missis Manchala (oooffff! I'm starting to mention her so often!). Everyone said that she was super nice and cool and awesome.
One piece of information made us so sick that Yasmin couldn't participate in the rest of the activities.
So that was my last day of school! And now I'm bored.....

Valentine's Dance 2013

Yesterday, it was the Valentine's Day Dance at my school.
In the morning Carolina got a rose from Vlad and she was very excited about it. She thought he liked her and couldn't stop talking about it.
Maths was fist period. Nothing really happened because we had a quiz that was supposed to be our chapter test.
German was next. It was a double. During the second period we went up to the auditorium to listen to Anne Fine, a childrens' writer who came to visit our school.
Everyone thought she was funny, while Yaz and I sat at the back facepalming like "This is sad...". She talked about depressing stuff like her crazy kids. I don't know if I understood it right, but she said that her son had a rotten brain, one of her daughters was a misanthrope and another daughter floated around the house. She also told us about the funniest book she has written. It is about a boy trying to commit suicide and failing every time....
And another thing: I don't read childrens' books!
Then it was English class. It wasn't that bad.... (Wait! What??? Did I just admit liking English class???!!!!! What's wrong with me???) Yasmin was being what the others call "racist". Our teacher didn't really mind because I guess she has a sense of humour.
After that we had French and Music. There wasn't anything that interesting about these subjects.
After school the four of us (Franny, Yasmin, Carolina and me) went to Franny's house. Marina came later since she (lucky!!!!) had to re-do a science test.
We put our dresses and make-up on and came (as always!) fashionably-late!
It was very cold outside, but inside the building it was very hot.
The dance was in the auditorium. There is a stage at the back. Next to and behind the stage there is a little place covered with black curtains. In there there are chairs, desks and other things people need for plays or concerts. On the right side of the stage there's a door. Behind it there's a room with other equipment like costumes or mirrors. In the room there are stairs going to the balcony where they have the music. There's also another door in that room. You can enter it from the stage and from the outside.
Ms Lemale didn't let anyone go behind the stage. Since Yaz and I are rebels (zoum! zoum! zoum!) we did not listen to her (zoum! zoum! zoum!). We went inside the little room and came out from the other entrance that leads to the back of the stage. We did it two times and.... Got in trouble... What the heck...?
Franny, Yasmin, Carolina, Marina and I decided to take a photo. Our money was downstairs, so we came down to get it. We found Missis Manchala there. I feel sorry for the teachers.... Really....
We took the photo, ate some pizza and went to dance.
Yasmin and I got kind of bored so we started making up another epic escape plan (just in case we have to escape from the auditorium for some random reason).
The building is divided into two parts: the Eiger and the Cervin. The dance was in the Eiger auditorium and the food was in the Cervin auditorium. In the Cervin auditorium there are two doors. One of them was open for everyone. It led to the elevator and the stairs. The other door was also unlocked, but we weren't allowed to go there. But for Yaz and I a "no" means a "yes".
We sneaked through the door and ran downstairs. We took the fire escape ones so no one notices us. (Now I sound stupid... Two 13-year-old girls running around the building in heels... Who wouldn't notice that?) We ran to the first floor and, of course, Missis Manchala saw us. As we saw her we ran back up the stairs and sneaked into the first bathroom. (Now I sound even more stupid... Hiding...?Why...? No one was really after us....)
Today in English class Missis Manchala told us that she really didn't like that. She said that she didn't tell Mr Gilbert (our principal). When she was saying that I was waiting for her to say "I didn't tell Mr Gilbert, but I told M Peron instead!" Luckily, she didn't say that.
The dance was over before I knew it. Everyone rushed outside and the place became deserted.
Unforgettable experience.
