History revision + art exam tomorrow!!!

My art exam is tomorrow!!! Wow.... Wow.... Woooowwww.....

I think this is the only year when I'm not excited for my birthday. I guess finally turning 16 is pretty cool, but eh. Gah the exam is tomorrow!!! So excited!!! 

High expectations?

Something that stood out to me today was the fact that there were Ukrainians on the same bus as me when I was on my way to badminton. There was a father and his two children who were speaking a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian and I found it slightly entertaining. I love it how I can sort of understand other Slavic languages without being able to speak them. Speaking of Slavs, my cousin has this festival at her school where each class has to represent some kind of Slavic nation. Her class is representing Ukraine. I wish we had that kind of stuff at my school. The closest thing we have to a festival is... Umm.... Exams

The hardest decision I have to make at the moment is whether I am going to take the Art IGCSE exam or not. I think I just have impossibly high expectations for myself. And that eventually leads to self-diappointment and, consequently, to self-hate. 

I started to wonder what it would be like if some of my classmates, including me, became political leaders in the future. I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face during a conference with, for example, Rosa. Just imagine trying to decide what to do with a certain country's future in some kind of treaty with one of your friends, constantly interrupting the conversation by yelling "uh sssanctions!!!" and laughing, falling off your chair, mumbling something incomprehensible about maths. But, on a serious note though, what would happen if a friend of mine became a nationalist dictator and I, being the glorious leader of a world superpower, had to stop them to save Europe's future? Okay I should stop... 

I am not an artist

Yesterday was a good day. Lily, Tinbite, Mickael and I went shopping and went to Frenchy's birthday party in the evening. While waiting for the bus, Tinbite and I got hit on by 12-year-old boys who only knew a couple of English words and wanted our numbers. We also witnessed a person injecting herself who got arrested at the trainstation. The day was quite eventful.

I'm still very lost in terms of the art IGCSE exam. I wish I was an arty person. Maybe I shouldn't have taken Art in the first place since I will probably not get an A* in the exam. By now my brain should, in theory, be exploding with ideas, but, in reality, the only thing I did/am planning on doing is research and planning. I don't even know what to sketch or draw. I need the Ato Ato no mi!

I started working on my Art exam. Well, kind of. Being the smart person I am, I didn't bring any art supplies with me to the mountains.

Old sketchbook tour!

This is a sketchbook I had from 2008 up to 2012 (school Art class). Let's see what's inside!

By the way, that's my new owl Swoops! Isn't it so cute!!!

On the cover there's a list of things to draw. In 5th grade if we finished our assignment early we had to pick something on the list and draw it. 

There are a lot of loose sheets of paper. I think this one is from 7th Grade when we had to redraw this cool Rhino from a picture.

Here's a something I drew on my first ever day of school when I moved to Switzerland. I remember we had Art first thing on Monday and it was that day that I had my first class in English. I think that was a pretty scary but also exciting experience because I didn't speak English back then and I couldn't understand what was going on or what we were supposed to do. 

On the bottom of the page someone copied my handwriting and wrote that I hate this girl and I think I got into a fight with them or something... Oh 5th Grade...

Weird collage thing. Okay...

We went on a field trip to some museum and had to fill in a worksheet. I didn't understand any of it so my classmates literally had to spell out all the answers for me.

=INTERNATIONAL DAY 2013=

I'm sure I wrote about International Day last year so if you don't know what it is please click here. 

Due to bad weather it was a little bit different this year, but it was still very fun.

In art class my friends and I got in trouble for using my iPad in class... We were drawing flags on our faces and I got it confiscated for a couple of minutes. I drew this really creepy thing and left it in the art class. 

Hot lunch was cancelled so all of us went around different areas of the school to try food from different countries. Luckily there was a stall with Indian food. Yasmin and I got everything there was. 

This is Yasmin with the Egyptian flag on one cheek and the English flag on the other. We also drew the AUM and the Indian flag on out hands!

A big shout-out to the Indian girls who were there! You are all awesome!!!

We didn't go to our next class and spent another 40 minutes outside. It was a lot of fun!

After school Franny, Marina, Yasmin and I had a very interesting talk.

We're invisible!

So yesterday it was Friday.
In art class we were doing masks. We had to lie on the desk and our partner had to put this liquid-white-bandage-thing on out face. Yasmin and I were smarter... We found a mask and instead of doing the design on someone else we did it on the mask in another room.
After school we decided to go to the auditorium. The projector and the computer were there this time. We connected both of them and logged on the computer. But the mouse wasn't working. I found a way to control the computer without the mouse and looked for a nice picture (of something not really... Yeah... Not telling you...). Suddenly the French section principal walked in. Everything was projected on the screen so I pressed alt+F4. He walked out the other door and didn't even notice us... Finally we found the right picture. We couldn't find a way to zoom in on it. Then another important member of the staff walked in. This time the alt+F4 didn't work... But he didn't notice us either!
We couldn't find a way to zoom in on the photo we found so we gave up and switched everything off. (Listen, I don't know how to clear the history without a mouse...)
After Simply my mum told me that Vasjok, my cousin, will not be coming to the summer campus this summer. I was really sad... What am I going to do?

Lip Dub time!!!

Friday was a very fun day, as usual. In CSL we were talking about drugs and Yasmin and I made Emma say "Viagra makes you horny".

Art was the worst and the best class at the same time. I didn't do anything and Sonyasmin spent more than 50% of her time in the bathroom. We managed to escape. Well, not really. We asked to go to our lockers to get our art supplies. I made a video about it, but due to what we have said in that video I can't put it up. Later, I found strawberries in my bag and we ate them. Omnomnom! 

After school Yasmin and I decided to make a lip dub to "the indian nipple song". We only managed to film the introduction, but it was still very fun to make. The best thing was that we tried to turn my purple scarf into something that looks like a sari. We failed...

After Simply Theatre I went to Yasmin's house. The next day we climbed trees and saw many friendly cats. Here's a video about it.

My grades are here!

So today I got my report card. Some comments made me laugh while others made me shout "what? That's not true at all!". Overall, I'm not satisfied with my results..... At all....
English: B-
Let's look at the bright side of it, first. At least it's not a C. I was expecting a lot worse. In the comment it said that 'Sofia has applied herself' and that I 'show interest in expressing my opinion'. How.....??? It also said that I 'made some attempt to develop and improve my written assignments.' The word 'some' makes me suspicious. What does it mean by 'some attempt'? And, of course the comment was ended with my teacher's favourite quote. 'She often does the minimum to get by.'
Fair enough. I deserve that.... :(
Maths: (grrrr! They spelled it the American way!) A-
The comment was only a sentence long. The last part of it is kind of strange though. It says that 'her concentration is not as intense as it could be.'
I'm generally happy with my grade.
French: B+
Yay! There's nothing interesting in the comment. It just says that 'there is room for improvement.' Well, duh! There's always room for improvement.
Science: A-
AnA-!!! How's that even possible??? The comment is written in French. The summary of it would be that I have to keep up the good work. Sorry, but I don't even know what I have done in this class!
Geography: B
It says that I have achieved good results on my tests, but I got really bad grades on my quizzes. Tell you what, those were 'pop quizzes'. I didn't even know about them.... -_-
History: B-
Wait... That doesn't even make sense. The same grade as English? In the comments, my teacher says that 'she has obtained good grades for both end of unit tests'. Now this is what I really hate! Some teachers write about 'good grades' in the comment section and congratulate you for doing well, but give you a bad grade. It said that I 'have failed handing in my last assignment about Louis XIV'. I couldn't do it for the same reason I couldn't do the English essay. I was very sad and emotional. We had so many graded assignments, but none of them mattered that much...
German: B+
I did well? Oh... That's good....
Art: B-
I knew that. The comments says that I 'can be easily distracted by those around me'. Sure.... It's the 'others around'.... -_-
Computer: bellow the expected standard
Now that made me laugh! It said that all my work was 'poorly done' and that I am 'disruptive in class'. First of all, my work is not poorly done! Putting nyan cat and Totoro on my presentation for no reason is.... Cool!
Let's skip dance, music and sports (I got a 'pass'! Not a 'fail'!).
CSL: expected standard
The comment made me discover so many new things about myself! I never knew I was a 'member of the group who displays a real interest in the subject'! No offense, but I don't give a crap about the subject... I 'listen carefully'. Wow! I listen??? I also 'make contributions'? Does this count saying that only native speakers should teach a language?
Homeroom/school commitment: A-
This is even more surprising! Actually, I 'always approach lessons with a positive learning attitude'! Oh really? So groaning and moaning and saying 'oh no! Kill me now! It's English next' count as being positive? I never knew... Also, I have a 'mature attitude'! So doodling random stuff in my agenda and laughing at stupid jokes now counts as 'mature'? Ok....

That brings my GPA to 3.15 (it used to be 3.29). So the average of my GPA is 3.22.... Not good...

What I expect my grades to be

The marking period ended so, hopefully, my grades will soon arrive.

I don't normally do this, but I just want to give myself a grade and compare it to my actual one that I will find out in the future. So let's start!

Maths I'm sure I'm getting somewhere around an A for this subject since I got a couple of 100% for my tests. 

English Oh chod.... I think I'm getting a C or something like that. Our teacher told us that our essays will not count and I totally failed the rest. I still don't get why I got such a bad grade on my portfolio... =( 

French Honestly, I have no idea...

Science B-? All my homework assignments were late and I got bad grades on them. Plus my test results weren't good either. 

German I'm probably getting a B... Getting an A in German is impossible...

History I actually enjoyed what we were studying this marking period and I was very proud of my test results. I would give myself an A- or a B+.

Geography This class is always at the end of the day and I'm tired so I don't really pay attention to it. We had several pop quizzes that I failed and my test results are average, so.... B-...?

Art My skills are very good! I love art (not as a school subject)! I made my self portrait purple (!) and.... we weren't supposed to do it the way I did it. I didn't give my sketch book in either. And I never do anything... And I'm on Pon Pon the whole time.... So.... Not getting a good grade.

CSL Computers I made my presentation on Nyan Cat, Totoro, Purple and everything I like when we were supposed to do it on something important (university, school and your future). Ms Lemale always tells me to be quiet because I talk to Yasmin the whole time. And I'm always late! So I could be expecting a "below class average"... >_<

         Class We never do anything in this class. During my PLP meeting with Mr Woodbridge I was just talking about how I hate English class with Yasmin. That was very fun.

Sports It's obvious. I'm getting a "fail". But who cares about sports anyway?

So..... Yay! The marking period is over!

Just a little 'something': When I was doing my "Study in Scarlet" portfolio for English I didn't try at all. When I was doing my "To kill a Mockingbird" portfolio I did my best. I got a better grade on the first one... 

Today we were "running" the mile (a mile and a half). Well... The others were running, but I was walking. I didn't try at all and I got 14.14. In sixth grade we were only doing one mile. I tried really hard, but my score was worse than my score this year.....

So the moral is.... Don't try....?

Our trip to India

Guess why today was so fun...! Because we didn't do anything at school! We don't have any "serious" subjects on Fridays (like Maths or English). The only things we have are CSL, Music, Art, Special, Geo and  Science.

In CSL we were "watching" a video about drugs... It was some fat American guy talking in the most annoying accent and voice! Yasmin and I were "taking notes" on my iPad. 

In Art I didn't do anything either since I finished all my work last week. I made purple using paint and went crazy about how amazing it was. Our teacher hates our class because we never do anything productive and "watch disgusting inappropriate videos that you can watch at home" (- Mr. Woodbridge's quote). 

At lunch Mr Woodbridge sat with us. He's never sitting with us again...... :-/

We had an assembly after lunch. It was all in French and... It sucked like all the other assemblies we had (except the one we ditched).

Our Science teacher is on a trip and we had Mr Hitz as a substitute. We were supposed to be doing an experiment, but no one knew what we were doing exactly. Franny and I ended up having water fights.

During the second period of Science more than half of our class was gone to do the debate. The rest of us were on our phones, tablets and laptops, playing games or taking pictures and posting them on Facebook.

The best part of the day was after school.

Yasmin, Franny and I found out that our classroom was unlocked and decided to stay in there. We acted out being in English class and ended up sitting on the floor at the back of the room (aka "the Hell No! club"). Sadly, we got cought and had to leave.

After going to the top of the Grenier we went up to the Cervin auditorium that was unlocked too!!! There were whiteboard markers so we wrote stuff on the white board. There was also a piano and we were singing (Franny's amazing black voice) and playing. 

Next to the door there was a projector and a computer on a desk. We logged into the computer (the password was written on the computer itself) and turned the projector on. Franny found pictures of Taj Mahal and projected it onto the wall. I took a photo of us in front of it...

Imagine if M Peron finds out and (for some random reason) we get sent to his office again. What would the letter home be like? "Yasmin and two friends sneaked into the learningwhateverarea unsupervised, hacked the computer and using their electronic device took photos in front of a building that they projected on a wall..."

On our way to Simply (we were late) Yasmin and I decided that if they ask us why we are late we would tell them that we just came back from our trip to India. Zoum!

After Simply, I quickly put my shoes on since I didn't want to be late to the train. I saw my mum standing outside so I opened the front door and saw..... My dad was standing there. It took me a couple of moments to think about it. At first I thought that he wasn't real, but... Oh my! That was him.

Dad said that he's going to Paris by car and he was passing by Geneva. He gave us a lift home and left.

I was speechless... 

I love spring!!!

It was the first of March.
The cats started meowing.The air started being soft and gentle. The conker stands were replaced by ice cream ones.
The spring finally arrived!
School was fun (as usual). Since we don't have Maths or English *puke* on Fridays, it is generally a good day.
In CSL we watched a video about drugs and decided that we want to grow marijuana. The video told us everything about how to grow it and they also said that you get a lot of money from selling it. Just kidding, I don't want to grow it. ;-)
I didn't do anything in Art class. We drew self portraits and I finished mine the week before. I made it all purple and refused to change it when the teacher asked me to. She said that I will loose marks, but I like it the way it is...
Yasmin and I started wandering around the Picasso (art) building. We climbed on top of a chair and could see the other side of the bathroom wall. We were hoping to find a secret room with dead bodies or blood or anything interesting, but instead we found a place where they keep clay creations. After, we found another dark room with a bunch of junk in it.
In science class we went outside and examined different types of soil. It was fun, but, since we didn't have a lot of time, we didn't finish it.
After school, Yasmin and I went to the Cervin auditorium, played piano, did the cup song and listened to Vocaloid (and, since it is our tradition, the nipple song).
Simply Theatre was unusual. Most of the people weren't there so we made a lip dub music video. Sonyasmin scared people away by closing themselves in dark studios.
The most exciting thing happened after Simply.
MY DAD IS HERE!!!! YAY!!!
Mum and I met him at the airport. I was so happy and excited!!!!
Dad brought me a pink and beige bag, a purple (!!!) purse and something very special. I would tell you what it was, but since everyone (my teachers, for example) has access to this blog, I can't.
Today, the tree of us went to town and Dad bought me the new iPod nano (since my old one broke because of an Indian festival >_<)! It's purple and now I'm listening to music!
My dad's friend was also there since he had to give us Dad's old cello. It sounds and looks so beautiful! It was made in 1804 and is very precious!

I think I'm not going to do any of my homework (although I REALLY have to do my English essay) because I only see my dad a couple of times a year and I don't want to waste my time on it....
